Lesson 1, Topic 1

Sleep Apnea

Tarun January 27, 2021

Very important pearls in this module:

1. Always bill appliances on the date of delivery.

2. Prior Authorizations will not be needed always, but expect about 80% of the time.

3. Wait for the completion of the prior authorization before you schedule the delivery with the patient.

4. Typical approval times to deliver the appliance is about 90 days to one year from the date of the pre-authorization approval.

5. If you are billing a medicare advantage/replacement plan that acts as a PPO replacement to traditional medicare you will still have to medicare rules.  This means that you may only use a Herbst or TAP appliance, the patient must have a face to face with their physician prior to appliance delivery, and a prescription for the appliance will be needed from the MD.

Thanks!
